June 22nd: The Aso Valley Ecomuseum Inaugurates Oleotourism with Mondomini

The Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley Paves the Way for Oleotourism

Campofilone, Saturday, June 22nd, Mondomini Farm – Ribbon cutting for the Territorial Interpretation Center of the Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley with the presence of the Agriculture Councillor Antonini.

A collective project has begun, focused on promoting extra virgin olive oil and protecting the Marche landscape. The Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley – which, since 2016, has brought together 12 municipalities and 3 Proloco – is a diffused museum that integrates the landscape and cultural uniqueness of the area. Starting today, with the addition of the Mondomini Farm from Campofilone, it expands with a Territorial Interpretation Center and an Accessible Sensory Path among the olive trees, which narrate and make tangible the Mediterranean culture of green gold.

The community and tourism and cultural operators are invited to participate in the inauguration to be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 5:00 PM at Mondomini, in the municipality of Campofilone, surrounded by 8,500 olive trees on an area of 14 hectares.

The farm hosts permanent installations aimed at promoting the excellence of EVOO for international and national tourism. The event will feature speeches by the President of the Ecomuseum Ercole D’Ercoli and the Agriculture Councillor of the Marche Region Andrea Maria Antonini, who will present the new Regional Law on Oleotourism.

Therefore, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the new territorial enhancement asset on which the Institutions are focusing, recognizing this excellence as an added value for tourism and also for health.

Livia and Stefano Uffreduzzi of the Mondomini Farm stated: “We are happy to share with the community and both Italian and foreign tourists, the beauty and history of this Marche region and of Mondomini. A 14-hectare farm in a unique and panoramic position, dating back to the 1700s. Our goal is to enhance it and tell its story, making tangible the importance and characteristics of EVOO production through an accessible path among our 8,500 olive trees, designed to be available to everyone.”

The Councillor Andrea Maria Antonini, of the Marche Region, stated: “The oleotourism is an innovative form of experiential tourism strongly linked to rural traditions and the enhancement of the regional natural and landscape resources, as well as being a new and additional opportunity for agricultural diversification. The Marche tourism offer is thus enriched – thanks to the recent Regional Law on Oleotourism – with a new proposal that allows visitors to have a concrete and engaging experience, and gives the agricultural enterprise the chance to invest in diversifying its activities, while allowing territories to develop based on one of the most important regional excellences.”

Ercole D’Ercoli, President of the Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley, said: “The year 2024 is full of news for the Ecomuseum. Mondomini is the first private member to join the Association of the Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley. In collaboration with the many local entities present in the area, we have prepared a rich unique events calendar to make our active and concrete contribution for the growth of the beautiful Aso Valley. For example, this weekend we have scheduled two parallel events: the inauguration of the Territorial Interpretation Center at Mondomini, which aims to be a reference point for the EVOO world with the goal of maximizing the extraordinary qualities; and Lavandaso in Monte Vidon Combatte, the event that runs from June 20th to 23rd with markets, workshops, conferences, concerts, tastings, and dinners, showcasing lavender production from many different perspectives.”

At the end of the presentation, a happy hour will be offered featuring extra virgin olive oils.

Marche Region: Regional Law on Oleotourism

Olive growing in the Marche region represents 1.5% of the Gross Sales Production. In areas where tradition and the sensitivity of farmers have preserved and renewed cultivation, it represents an interesting source of income and offers a high-quality product. With the L.R. July 5, 2023, n. 10 – Exercise of Oleotourism Activities in the Marche Region, a legislative tool is provided to operators in the olive sector, both producers and processors, allowing them to develop an important activity for enhancing territories, products, and the hospitality system.

The Ecomuseum of the Aso Valley and its identities is an association with a rich annual events calendar that enlivens the entire Valley. This year, it welcomes the Mondomini Farm of Campofilone – the first private company to join – alongside 12 Municipalities of the middle and lower valley (Altidona, Campofilone, Moresco, Monterubbiano, Ortezzano, Monterinaldo, Montefiore dell’Aso, Carassai, Pedaso, Petritoli, Montalto Marche, and Monte Vidon Combatte), 3 Proloco (Altidona, Ortezzano, and Montefiore dell’Aso), the Fermano Legambiente Circle, and the Cultural Associations Altidona Belvedere and Gusti&Sapori.

The Mayor of Monte Vidon Combatte Gaetano Massucci and Roberto Ferretti, president of the Agrituraso-Marche Association, are pleased to announce that from June 20th to 23rd, the XII edition of LAVANDASO will be held in Monte Vidon Combatte. A great event with markets, workshops, conferences, concerts, tastings, and dinners.
